I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is ready to get into the special season preparing for our Savior’s birth.  Last week I sent home a packet with important dates and information for all of our upcoming December events and projects.  These are going to be three very busy weeks in 4A!

As I mentioned during Parent-Teacher conferences, we have begun to send home additional notes and tools for the students to use with our new Math module.  Please continue to keep me informed of their progress at home in this subject.

Week of: December 2-6

Spelling: share, cart, beware, march, rare, army, charge, stare, market, compare, mark, alarm, parent, chart, spare, smart, charm, scare, apart, spark

Vocabulary:  constant, extraordinary, penetrate, spree

Writing Journal Assignment:  This week’s assignment will not be done in the journal.  Students are bringing home a Creative Writing assignment where they are asked to retell the story of Jesus’ birth and what it means to them.  The rough draft is due Friday and the final copy will be written in school on special paper.

Math: Multiplying by up to four-digit numbers

Science: Hurricanes

Social Studies: New York Becomes and English Colony; Social Studies Friday

Reading: Ongoing free reading in class, reading notebook, conferencing

Language Arts:  Singular and plural possessive nouns

Religion: daily devotions; please note the Memory Quiz will be Friday this week

Tests:

  • Friday – Spelling; Memory Quiz

Important News:

  • Our class will visit the Santa Shop on Tuesday at 9:00am.
  • We will be the audience for the K-3 Christmas Pageant on Tuesday in school.
  • Math Extra Help will be held on THURSDAY this week at 7:45 am.
  • Christmas quilt squares are due by Thursday, 12/5.
  • Christmas Tree decorating will be Friday, 12/6.  Please send in an ornament from home to lend to our classroom tree.
