Welcome back! I hope everyone had a blessed Easter and a restful break. Here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
This week we will wrap up unit 5 by studying Jesus’ conversation with the woman at the well and His Sermon on the Mount. Then, we will review for the test, which will be on Monday, May 5th. There is no memory verse this week.
6th Social Studies
In social studies we will study the decline of the Roman Empire, and the rise of the Byzantine Empire in the east. On Friday, the students will begin reviewing for the test on topic 8, which will be on Wednesday, May 7th.
7th Religion
In religion this week we will look at when and why we should pray, through the context of the wedding at Cana and Solomon’s prayer of dedication for the temple. Then, we will begin reviewing for the test on Unit 5, which will be on Monday, May 5th. There is no memory verse this week.
7th Social Studies
This week we will be fully studying the Civil War, starting with the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860, some of the early battles, and then what life was like for civilians.
8th Religion
The students will be wrapping up and presenting their church design projects this week, and then next week we will get back to regular lessons.
8th Social Studies
In social studies this week we will be studying a wide variety of post-war issues spanning from the 1950s through tot he 1970s. We will specifically study the Korean Conflict, the Eisenhower administration and life in the 1950s and ’60s. Then, we will look at the Civil Rights Movement and the equal rights movement of the 1970s. Next week we will review for the test on Topic 15, which will be on Thursday, May 8th.
