Welcome back to a new week at Trinity! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and took time to reflect on the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
This week we will study King Solomon, the temple he had built, and then how his actions caused the division of Israel and Judah under his son, Rehoboam. There is no memory verse this week.
6th Social Studies
In social studies, we will study the cultural legacy of Ancient China. The students will try their hand at traditional Chinese calligraphy, and then we will study inventions from Ancient China, such as the seismometer, silk fabric, lacquerware, and more. Next week the students will review for their test on Topic 5, which will be next Friday, January 31st.
7th Religion
This week we will study what the Bible says about heaven and hell through the context of the parable of Lazarus and the rich man. Then, we will study what makes humans so special to God and the story of Jesus showing compassion to Zacchaeus, the tax collector. There is no memory verse this week.
7th Social Studies
Last week the students began creating their skits, songs, cartoons, and even a dance to present the freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. They will present their projects on Friday, and I am really looking forward to seeing their creativity come alive!
8th Religion
This week we will study David being anointed as the second King of Israel by Samuel, and then the saga of him actually becoming king. There is no memory verse this week, but the Trimester II project is due next Tuesday, February 1st.
