Welcome back to a new week at Trinity! Here are the updates for each of my classes.
6th Religion
In religion this week, we will begin studying the book of 1 Samuel. We will start with God calling Samuel to serve Him as a child, and then move on to Samuel anointing the first and second kings of Israel- Saul and David. The memory verse for this week is Hebrews 1:1-2a.
6th Social Studies
Our study of Ancient India will continue this week with learning about the origins of Buddhism, and then the Maurya and Gupta Empires. The test on Topic 4 will be next Thursday, December 19th.
7th Religion
On Monday, the students will take their test on Unit 2, and then we will begin studying God the Father in unit 3. We will study why we call God our Father and then how He brought creation into being. The memory verse for this week is Matthew 6:33.
7th Social Studies
This week we will start Topic 4, which will get into the formation of the United States Constitution and government. As part of the unit, we will do a basic citizenship and civics study.
8th Religion
This week will study the conquest of Canaan and then we will get into the book of Judges. We will start with the story of Deborah this week and then continue on next week with Gideon and Samson. The memory verse this week is Joshua 1:9.
8th Social Studies
Last Friday, we began learning about the influx of immigration to the United States between 1865 and 1915. This week we will study the urbanization that took place during this time period and how living conditions varied based on social class. Then, we will learn about the rise of the Progressives, who strived to improve working and living conditions of the U.S.
