What’s New in Art:

The Preschool Classes have been busy making Coffee Filter Turkeys.  Next week they will start their Christmas “Baby Jesus Nativity Hearts” project.  Our Kindergarten class is almost finished drawing their Nativity scenes and will start coloring them in.  First Grade used assorted green tissue paper to create a wreath decoration.  They will add berries, pine cones and bows next week.  Second graders will use oil pastel and glitter to finish up their lovely tempera paint sponge print poinsettias.  They will learn how to create a Christmas Tree pop up card at their next class.

After a slide presentation of The Annunciation and Nativity Scenes created by different artists, the Third graders have been drawing their versions of these historical and joyous events. Fourth Grade learned about the Cubist Movement in art and the fascinating artwork from P. Picasso!  They are using this style of art to draw heavenly angels. The Fifth graders are busy carefully detailing and cutting pie tins to create an Angel Pie Tin Sculpture which will hold a candle.

Our Sixth Grade class will be coloring their poinsettia drawings using oil pastels.  Seventh Grade is almost done with their amazing drawings of Christmas cards.  The Eighth graders are working on a Holiday Word Art design using retro lights and lots of illumination!  Finally, during the first week of December we welcome our Second Trimester Art Elective class and they will start a Christmas craft project…to be continued.

Keep Creating and Happy Thanksgiving to All!
