This week we begin the Scholastic Big Day curriculum’s Theme 3 Week 1:  “The Places We Go.”  We will be learning all about our neighborhood and the places we might go to and see around town.  We will also explore the different types of homes that one might live in.  Our related vocabulary words are:  apartment, block, building, community, firehouse, hospital, library, sidewalk, park, and neighborhood.  In conjunction with this learning theme, we are asking for parent volunteers to come in to our classroom and present their careers.  We are looking for volunteers all this month of November.  If you are interested in sharing your career experiences with our class, please contact the teacher via class dojo to arrange a time.
In addition to, “The Places We Go,” we will also be introducing the core concepts of:  the letter Gg, the color grey, the number 9, squirrels, acorns and a review of the basic geometric shapes.  We will also discuss the upcoming Election Day and vote for our favorite snack.  In math, we will discuss the concept, “How do we get there?” and graph all the different ways we get to school.
Our religion lessons this week are Voyages 9&10, “Hannah Prays Thank You for Church.”  We will learn our new November grace before meals, “Thank you God,” and we will begin to discuss all the ways we are thankful to God for our many blessings.
