Welcome back! Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

In sixth grade religion, the students will learn about how Moses managed the Israelites while they were traveling in the wilderness on the way to the Promised Land. We will read about how Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, helped him, and how the camps were organized when they stopped. There is no memory verse this week.

6th Social Studies

This is a big week in sixth grade social studies! We will learn about life dung the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms of Egypt, as well as their religion and burial practices. To help learn more about mummification, we will recreate the process used by the Ancient Egyptians by mummifying apple slices using the same ingredients used thousands of years ago- baking soda and table salt. We will check the progress each day. Typically it takes 1-2 weeks for the apple to fully dehydrate and mummify. Then, the students will start on their very first in class research project on various rulers from Egypt and Nubia. This will be done in class, and the students will present their work next week.

 7th Religion

The students will take their teston Unit 1 on Tuesday, October 29th. Then, we will begin Unit 2, which will focus on the work of the Holy Spirit. There is no memory verse this week.

7th Social Studies

This week we will begin Topic 3, which will cover the causes of the American Revolution, as well as the Revolutionary War itself. We will begin first with the French and Indian War, and then the taxes Britain levied to cover the cost of the war as well as the protests that followed.

8th Religion

Last week, we studied the Ten Commandments, and this week we will get into what was going on with the Israelites while Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments, and then the Tabernacle they built to help them to keep their focus on God. There is no memory verse this week.

8th Social Studies

This week, we will continue studying life out west, specifically focusing on the Homesteaders and Native Americans. Then, we will shift gears and begin studying the formation of corporations and monopolies.
