I hope everyone had a blessed Easter and a restful break! We are going to get right back into the swing of things, so here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
To start the week, we will be studying King Josiah, and then we will go into studying the prophets of Israel. We will learn about God’s grace through the story of Jonah, and how passionately God cares for us through the story of Jeremiah. The memory verse for this week is Ephesians 2:8.
6th Social Studies
Before Easter, we completed our unit on Ancient Greece. This week the students will take their test on Friday, April 12th. They will also start on projects about Greco-Roman mythology.
7th Religion
This week we will complete the lessons in our unit all about Jesus. We will study Jesus’ second coming through the Parable of the Ten Virgins, and the various names the Bible gives Jesus. Next week we will review for the test on Unit 4, which will be on Friday, April 19th. The memory verse this week is 2 Corinthians 5:17.
7th Social Studies
Before Easter, we studied the political changes that the election of Andrew Jackson brought to the nation, and this week we will study how his policies affected the economy and the Native American population. We will look specifically at primary source documents about the Trail of Tears, and then the students will do a research activity about the Westward expansion of the mid 1800s.
8th Religion
Prior to Easter we completed the lessons in unit 3, and this week we will be reviewing for the test on Friday, April 12th.
8th Social Studies
This week we will look at how American civilians contributed to World War II and how their lives were affected. We will also study a few WWII era propaganda posters to show how public opinion was shaped. Then, we will get into how the Allies actually defeated the Axis Powers, and the aftermath of the war, both at home and abroad.
