This Week in Art
We’re all hoping for some SNOW…in the Art room! Yes, the REAL STUFF! How can you tell? Just look around the halls of Trinity! You’ll see SOoooo many of our students’ projects depicting Winter landscapes, snowmen glistening in the moonlight and a even a snowman collage!
Second Grade starts their Evergreen Mixed Media Collages this week….Woo Hoo! They’ll be experimenting with salt’s effects on watercolor and learning to use the art elements of texture and space. Kindergarten adds their final details to their Snowman Collages. First Grade will start a lesson on the many types of Sculpture. This will culminate in a fun, clay coil pot project. Last but not least, PreK classes will be using paint to mimic Peter’s footprints in the snow and glueing on a paper cutout of Peter and his walking stick. (project based on the book A Snowy Day)
Grade Three will be working on their Matisse Paper Cutout Collages. Our Fourth Grade class will enjoy a lesson on Michelangelo and will paint a faux fresco watercolor. Fifth Grade students will be finishing up their chalk pastel drawings of a Snowman doing an Activity!!!
Sixth Graders are working on their African Tribal Masks using inspiration from a video describing the many different types and purposes of African masks. Seventh grade has been very busy painting their Winter Landscapes and will continue to mix tints of purples and blues to depict shadows in the snow. Eighth Graders learned about the Japanese paper cutting technique of Notan Design. I can’t wait to see their final accomplishments using this skill. Finally, our Art Elective class will be starting their new project: Cardboard Tube Relief Sculptures!!! Stay Tuned….
Keep Creating!
