Hello fabulous fourth grade families,
Merry Christmas! I am looking forward to learning many new concepts this week with this amazing fourth grade class!

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week in ELA we will be using Scholastic Story works. We will be reading the play, Undercover Patriots by Allison Friedman. There will be a reading quiz on Friday based on the test. We will be focusing on plot and characterization. In grammar we will be starting Unit 2- Nouns, focusing on irregular verbs and possessive nouns. We will also be starting our first argumentative essay answering the question, Do you think that the Patriots made the right decision?

Math: This week in math we finish module 10, focusing on factors and divisibility. There will be a quiz on Thursday 1-11 and a test on 1-12. Students DO NOT need to memorize divisibility rules, they can use them on the test. Please be sure to help your child memorize the divisibility rules. It is important to continue to review fact fluency at home to reinforce the skills taught in school. As always helpful videos and resources can be found on Google Classroom.

Religion: In Religion we will finish our study of Genesis beginning our study of Moses and the 10 Commandments.

Social Studies: This week in S.S. begin our study of the American Revolution! There will be a quiz on the difference between Loyalists and Patriots on Wednesday. We will complete a review sheet on Monday. We will also begin our Revolution Bottle Biography Project. This project will be counted as 2 projects, one for the project and one for the presentation. Projects are due on Wednesday January 24th. We will be presenting on January 25-26.

Science: In science we will continue our second unit of study, Waves of Sound. We will be focusing on the question: How far can a whisper travel?

Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
