I hope you are all well as you are reading the updates for this week. As we all know, we do not have school on Friday in observance of Veterans Day. Thank you to all of our veterans and current military personnel. I appreciate your service and sacrifice. Here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
This week we will continue to follow the journey of the Israelites into the Promised Land. We will focus on God helping Moses lead the people, and the order that God’s plan brought to the journey. There is no memory verse this week.
6th Social Studies
Last week we studied life under the pharaohs of Egypt and the process of mummification. This week, we will build on that knowledge as we begin our own mummification experiment of apples, and the students will also begin their group research projects on Egyptian and Nubian monarchs. They will work on these in class and will present next Monday.
7th Religion
The students will have their test on Unit 1 on Wednesday, November 8th. We went over the review on Friday, so the students should be actively reviewing over the next few days. There is no memory verse this week.
7th Social Studies
On Friday, the students began their Topic 3 review, which we will go over in class on Monday. The test will be on Thursday, November 9th.
8th Religion
In religion this week, the students will learn about how God provided His people with food and water in the wilderness on the way to the Promised Land, and then set guidelines for them through the Ten Commandments. There is no memory verse this week.
8th Social Studies
Last week we focused very much on the changes that occurred out West, and this week we will be studying the group of entrepreneurs known as the “Robber Barons,” and the organized labor movement that came as a result of their practices.
