Hello fabulous fourth grade families,
This week we will be doing a variety of lessons and activities. There is no school in honor of Veterans Day on Friday.

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week in ELA will be starting small reading groups, and will not be having a shared wonders text. We will be continuing to read our class read-aloud The Spiderwick Chronicles. We will be starting to incorporate phonics and spelling skills during small group time. Our skill this week is short vowels. In grammar we will be focusing on complex sentences. In writing we will begin to write an argumentative essay answering the question: Should people be forced to evacuate during a natural disaster?

Math: This week in math we begin Modules 6/7, dividing by 1 digit numbers. We will not be using IntoMath. We will be learning how to do standard division. Be sure to check google classroom for helpful handouts and videos. Please encourage your child to use graph paper to help them line up their columns. There will be a Quiz 11-15, and a test on 11-16.

Religion: This week we will continue our study of the old testament lessons, focusing on Genesis chapters 1-2.

Social Studies: This week in S.S. we will continue our second chapter of S.S.: Three Worlds Meet. We will be focusing on Europeans exploring New York.

Science: This week we continue our science unit about the birth of rocks. Focusing on the question: How could you survive a landslide? As we begin to wrap up our first unit of science there will be a quiz on 11-14, please be on the look-out for a review sheet to help your child study. There are no surprises of science quizzes, everything they need to know is on the review sheet.

Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
