We are finishing up the theme “My Family” and unit 4 titled “All Kinds of Families”. BIG Idea: Every family is unique. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about family members, family roles, and the unique qualities of families. Social-Emotional Focus: Kindness. The theme vocabulary words include: alike, special, different, tradition, respect and similar. Math vocabulary words include: group, pile, object and sort.

We will be learning the letter Ff, color purple, octagon and number 8. We will be reading the books “You and Me Together”, “What Mommies/Daddies Do Best”, “We Are All Alike”, “We Are All Different” and “Harold and the Purple Crayon”. We will also be reading the “Things That Go BUMP and AWOO in the Night” Scholastic weekly reader. For our afternoon instruction, we will continue to work on the letter of the week reinforcement worksheets as well as create a leaf picture frame craft using leaves we collected! Every Friday, we will continue to recap the week in our Journals.

We will start talking about all things leaves! We will go for a nature walk, collect leaves and then sort them based on color. We will also start creating various leaf projects. These will be displayed on the walls and posted on the dojo asap! We will also use the leaves we collected for our sensory bin. We will have acorns in them and the children will have to use tweezers to take them out! This will help their fine motor skills.

For music and movement, we will start a new Thanksgiving song titled “Thank Him” and dance to a guided Turkey dance using GoNoodle.com!

For Jesus Time, we will continue to sing the song “Jesus Loves Me” and begin singing a new song for Thanksgiving called “Thank Him” which we thank God for all he has done for us. We will also be reciting a new prayer for the month of November. The prayer goes as follows, “Thank you for the world so sweet. Thank you for the food we eat. Thank you for the birds that sing. Thank you God for everything!”. Lastly, Mrs. Maldonado will teach the child about Joshua and Jericho “Thank you for cities”.
