Hello fabulous fourth grade families this week we will be doing a variety of lessons and activities.

I am so proud of all of the students hard work on thier New York State Floats! They all shined during our parade on Wednesday.

We will be going on our first field trip on Monday October 23rd to the Hicksville Firehouse on West Marie Street.

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week in ELA will be using text set two from the Wonders Curriculum. This text set includes, “Say Something”, “Talent Show” and Read Experts, Incorporated. We will be working on the skills of reading and understanding realistic fiction and using text evidence to respond to realistic fiction. We will also be focusing on the question: how do my actions affect others? In grammar we will be focusing on simple subjects and predicates.

Math: This week in math we finish Module 4: Mental Math and Estimation Strategies. Please be sure to check google classroom for helpful videos and handouts. I also put a copy of the HW pages that can be printed and completed if packets get lost. It is essential that your child is fluent with their multiplication facts, please be sure to review with them at home to reinforce their practice in school. There will be a quiz on Wednesday 10/25, and a test on Thursday 10/26.

Religion: This week we will start our study of the old testament lessons, focusing on Genesis chapters 1-2.

Social Studies: This week in S.S. we will continue our second chapter of S.S.: Three Worlds Meet. We will be focusing on the Native American groups found in New York, the Algonquin and the Iroquois.

Science: This week we continue our science unit about the birth of rocks. Focusing on the question: What did our town look like 100 million years ago?

Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
