Hello Parents! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I wish the weather was better but rainy weather calls for lots of movies! As we are transitioning to fall, please be aware of the weather. We will be going outside if weather permits and some windy days require a sweatshirt/jacket.
Important Reminder – All Scholastic book orders are due on Friday 9/29! (more information will be sent home with your child on Monday)
*We will be wearing green on Tuesday 9/26 in support of the families of Farmingdale High School affected by the tragic bus accident.*
We are continuing with theme 1 “Ready for school” and starting unit 3 titled “Learning Together”. BIG Idea: I work and play with my friends at school. Knowledge Focus: Children learn the expectations, routines, and behaviors of school. Social-Emotional focus: cooperation. The theme vocabulary words include: learn, partners and play. Math vocabulary words include: longer, shorter and taller.
We will be learning the letter Aa, color green, rectangle and number 3. We will be reading the books “The Pledge of Allegiance”, “My Friends” and “Mouse’s 1st Day of School”. We will also be reading the “Little Green Apple” Scholastic weekly reader on the SMARTBoard this week. This reinforces the color green, how apples get from orchards to stores, and planting. Every Friday, we will continue to recap the week in our Journals. For a special snack on Friday, we will be tasting 3 different kinds of apples!
For Jesus time, we will continue to sing “Jesus Loves Me”, “God Loves the Little Children” and continue to discuss creation, focusing on days 6 and 7. We will continue to recite our Johnny Appleseed prayer before snack, lunch and the remainder of September. Mr. Stainkamp will visit the children as Johnny Appleseed for Chapel in the church on Wednesday!
We will continue to discuss all things apples such as taking a deeper look inside an apple at our science table, watch apples decompose, discuss the three different color of apples and create another apple craft. We will taste our Apple Pie we created with Mrs. Sammarco on Monday and taste the 3 different kinds of apples on Friday! All of these fun activities will be displayed on our Classdojo. For the color yellow, we will be finishing up our sunflower color craft.
