Hello fabulous fourth grade families,
This week we will be doing a variety of lessons and activities to start our school year off strong.
Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:
ELA: This week we will start our first full week of the wonders curriculum. We will be reading the shared texts titled “Avalanche,” “A World of Change,” and Earthquakes. We will be focusing on the skill of using text evidence to support opinions. There will be a short reading comprehension quiz based on the shared readings on Friday 9-29. There is no spelling HW or Reading Log this week. In writing we will be working on creating our Because of Winn-Dixie Scrapbook that will be due on Wednesday, 10-4.
Math: This week in Math we complete Module 2 focusing on the Adding and Subtracting whole numbers through the thousands place. We will have a math quiz on Friday 9-29, and a test on Monday 10-2. The quiz and test are similar, and quiz corrections can be completed to earn back points. (I will be going over the math quiz and test policies during back to school night.) Please be sure to check google classroom for helpful videos and handouts. I also put a copy of the HW pages that can be printed and completed if packets get lost.
Religion: This week we discuss the holy trinity. We will also be talking about our class bible verse and how it related to our school wide theme of kindness.
Social Studies: This week in S.S. we will continue our study of New York State. We also will begin our first at home S.S. project, New York State Floats, information went home last week and can also be found on Google Classroom. Floats are due by 10-15. We will be having a NY State Parade on 10-18 following chapel.
