Welcome to the first full week of school! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I am thrilled to start the year and looking forward to making great memories! I will be posting on here every Monday with our weekly curriculum plans, classroom news, and important dates. As you all know I will be using Class Dojo to get in contact with you as well. Everyone has responded and set up with Class Dojo, thank you for that. If you ever need to send me an email still, you can my email is [email protected]
For this week:

SpellingSpelling tests will begin next week. The children will be given a list of 8 words on Monday in their spelling notebooks (“S” book). They must write these words 3 times each and study them for their spelling test on Friday. I will post the words on here too in case you want an extra copy for home.

ELA This week we are starting our Phonics series. Children will be going over fundations, blending sounds together, and rhyming. Reading homework will start next week and will be assigned every night. The page with the number circled will be their homework due following day. Books must come back the next day so they can complete the next lesson with the class. These are two of the read alouds we did last week.

Writing Students have all brought back their journals and we will be journaling at least twice a week about different prompts. Students have already started writing through two different activities we have begun! They will be hung up for Back-to-School night. I can’t wait for you to see their hard work. We will also be doing handwriting 1-2 times a week to continue practicing and mastering neatness. These are two of the read alouds we did last week that go along with our writing activity.

Math We have begun our math series yesterday and will learn about representing addition, doubles and adding 10 or more and how to make a 10 to add. I will announce on Class Dojo when students get math homework due to some of the lessons being very long. Pages will be circled.

Science/Social StudiesWe will officially begin next week and will rotate each day with which one we do.

Important Dates Back to School night – next Tuesday September 19th.
