This Week in Art

Our ECC classes are creating daffodil flowers out of construction paper and mini condiment cups.  Each week we will be learning about and creating a new flower or insect.  You would be amazed at all the different flower names we already know!  Kindergarten will be making a fun “playground” sculpture using strips of construction paper that have been folded, curled and pasted onto a mat.  By experimentation students can manipulate the strips of paper to form tunnels, swings and slides. First grade will be making a mixed media bird’s nest collage.  This is always a favorite First grade project!  Second and Third grades will continue to paint flowers from the artist Monet’s lovely garden at his home in Giverny, France. Monet loved to paint his beautiful flower garden and of course his famous lily pond with the Japanese bridge.

Fourth grade will finish up their Scale drawings this week. The Fifth graders are doing a wonderful job on their Analagous Color drawings.  Some students have chosen to use watercolor, oil pastels, crayon and colored pencils to create an abstract or realistic drawing using only their four chosen colors. Sixth grade has been working diligently to complete their abstract shoe drawings.

This is the last week for Seventh grade to complete their Word Art collages.  The Eighth grade will finish up their chalk pastel flower drawings this week as well.

Keep Creating and Enjoy the Lovely Spring Weather!
