Hello Parents! I hope everyone enjoyed the much-needed Spring break! Time is flying by and before we know it, it will be Summer! The end of the year will come fast and so will all of our celebrations! Please keep a close eye out on our ClassDojo for all important dates and announcements.

Important Dates and Reminders –

  • The Long Island Aquarium Field Trip will be this Friday, 4/21.
  • Special Person’s Day – May 12th (more details to come)

We will be starting Theme 7 “Nature All Around Us” and starting unit 1 “How Do Plants Grow”, BIG Idea: I can plant a seed and watch how it grows. Knowledge Focus: Children learn about their environment by investigating characteristics of the natural world. Social-Emotional Focus: Curiosity. The theme vocabulary words include: flower, petal, plant, roots, seeds, tree and vine. Math vocabulary words include: add and count.

We will be learning the letter Yy, continue to review numbers 1-20, shapes, colors and continue our weekly journal on Friday’s. We will also begin to learn to count by 10’s! We will be reading the books “Growing Vegetable Soup”, “What The Sun Sees/What The Moon Sees” and Counting In The Garden”.

We will be celebrating Earth day on Thursday, 4/20 and make a special snack. We also will be making Bean Greenhouses! The children will observe how the bean grows and learn about the life cycle of a plant. In our sensory bin, there will be real dirt, artificial flowers and tools that will allow the children to “plant” their own flowers! Lastly, we will begin to work on our Mother’s Day crafts in preparation for the upcoming holiday.
