Last week we learned about letter Dd and dental health. This week we will learn more about letter Vv. We will develop a phonemic awareness of letter Vv as we explore a few words that begin with Vv.
V is for valentines! Valentines are little expressions of love that we give our loved ones on Valentine’s Day. We have a variety of fun valentines activities planned for this week. We will be creating lots of beautiful heart shaped valentines crafts in the art center. We will explore conversation heart oobleck and the properties of matter as a science project. We will play candy heart math games and learn to recite the “Five Little Hearts” math fingerplay. We will learn more about the feeling of love, as we enjoy many books on the topic and explore “What Is A Pair?” with our scholastic weekly readers.
Jesus is our Valentine! We will learn more about God’s unconditional love for us at chapel this week. Our Faith Alive Jesus Time lesson this week is, “Jesus Loves Me. Jesus Blesses The Children.” We will praise God with the songs, “Jesus is my Valentine” and “God is love.” On Tuesday, we will celebrate God’s love with a Valentines Day Tea Party. We will make strawberry shortcakes and enjoy a fancy tea party with our special stuffed animals and our friends. Please wear your red Trinity shirts and feel free to bring in a stuffed animal to cuddle with.
V is for veterinarian. We will learn more about caring for animals and the community helper, the Vet. We will pretend to be the various roles that you would find at a veterinarian’s office as we transform our dramatic play center into a veterinarian’s center. We will take care of our favorite stuffed animal pets and learn more about the needs of our pets.
This should be an exciting week filled with love! Please remember that school is closed next week, February 20-24, for Winter Break.
