Unit 2 Text Set 2 (2 Week Outlook) 

The Wonders Stories: We continue to read two fables in which animals teach us lessons: The Boy Who Cried Wolf and Wolf! Wolf!

High Frequency Words (Can you read these fluently?) – baby, seven, eight, start, these, isn’t, try, early, learn, walk

Vocabulary words (and their meanings) include believe, delicious, feast, fond, lessons, remarkable, snatch, stories

Spelling Test Fri. 2/3 Our weekly words include those with digraphs and trigraphs: chop, catch, shape, trash, phone, that, sting, thin, bring, while, this, that’s, seven, isn’t, early

Grammar -kinds of nouns (common, proper, collective)

Review of basic strokes and keys to legibility

Black History Month- we will bring to light the accomplishments and achievements of Black American artists, inventors, explorers, activists, and scientists throughout our American history who made the world a better place. We will then ask ourselves, “How will I make the world a better place?”

Groundhog Day- February 2

Social Studies Lesson: Use Maps to Locate Places vocabulary- relative location, absolute location, town, legend, city, compass rose, symbol

Classroom maps

Animal Biodiversity and Classification- We will explore animal classification/traits that define each group

Religion-Chapel is Wednesday

Season of Epiphany

Prayers added to our prayer book as well as handwritten prayers added to our classroom prayer box

We will be preparing to lead chapel on February 15. Our in-school projects will begin this week. The children are very excited!  We’ve watched (https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/elizabeth-and-the-greatest-gift/) to explain and introduce Samaritan’s Purse and Operation (Christmas) Shoebox. We will be watching other videos so stay tuned! The inspiration for our project comes from the book,
