Hello parents!
The children had fun this past week singing “Five Chilly Snowmen” and making snowman puppets. They also made a melted snowman project that they had so much fun making. We also talked about “Three Kings Day.”
This upcoming week, the children will learn about how our bodies keep warm in the winter/cold weather. We will do a science experiment “How Do Polar Bears Stay Warm?” using Crisco on our hand before submerging it in cold water. The children will find that the Crisco acts as the Polar Bear’s blubber, which is what keeps him warm. We will also read the book, “The Mitten” by Jan Brett. This is the story of a little boy that lost his mitten in the snow and soon after, animals find their way into the mitten to seek warmth and shelter.
We will begin to discuss the importance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and why he was such a prominent person in history.
Reminders:
January 16th – Martin Luther King Jr. Day – NO SCHOOL
January 27th – Parent/Teacher Conferences – NO SCHOOL
Have a Blessed Day!
