The 4th graders have a busy week ahead! Please take a moment to review what we will be covering over this week. It is important that students bring in a charged chromebook to school each day.

To accommodate rehearsals for the holiday concert specials for this week as as follows:

Monday- Computer

Tuesday- Art

Wednesday- P.E.

Thursday- Music, Spanish, P.E., SEL

Friday- Library

As the weather begins to get colder please ensure that your child is bringing an appropriate jacket to school each day. We will be going outside every day we can, it is important that your child is dressed appropriately.

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week in ELA, we will be starting Unit 2 of the Wonders Curriculum. We will be reading 1 text, Anansi and the Birds. We will be focusing on the skills of summary and character development. There will be a spalling test on 12-16 with words based on our class read-aloud The Last Holiday Concert by Andrew Clements. In Grammar we will begin Unit 2 focusing on nouns.

Math: This week in math we will finish module 8 in IntoMath, multiplying multi-digit numbers. We will be using standard algorithms to solve these multiplication problems. It is essential that your child knows and is confident in practicing their multiplication facts. Please check the google classroom for additional resources, such as reteach pages and HW pages. There will be a quiz on Thursday 12-8 and a Test on Friday 12-9.

Religion: This week we will continue our unit on Prayer. We will also begin to prepare for the season of Advent. The class has been challenged to do one Random Act of Kindness (RACK) each day for the month of December. We will be creating a paper chain of our RACK’s with the hope to have the chain go from the floor to the ceiling.

Social Studies: This week we continue Chapter 4, The Revolutionary War in New York State. Specifically we will be continuing our lesson on the reasons the Revolutionary War began.

Science: This week we will continue our current unit, The Birth of Rocks, exploring the question Will a Mountain Last Forever? Focusing on both chemical and weather erosion.  We will be recreating a volcano explosion, be sure to check talking points for some exciting science pictures!

I am looking forward to a fantastic week with a fabulous group of fourth graders.

Blessings,
