I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family. I also want to wish everyone a blessed first Sunday of Advent. Last week the children brought home Advent wreaths that we made with paper flames to glue on one each week. The countdown to Christmas has begun!
For the month of December we do not focus on a unit in our Big Day Curriculum, instead we focus on all things Christmas. For this week we will be reading 2 different versions of The Gingerbread Man and then we will compare them using a Venn diagram. We will also read Gingerbread Friends and Gingerbread Baby both written and illustrated by Jan Brett, one of my favorite authors. We will also make a gingerbread man craft.
For math we will be reviewing numbers 1-10 as well as patterns.
Our letter this week will be Ii. We will practice writing letter Ii, make a list of Ii words, and have Ii show and tell on Friday.
For Jesus time we will be learning all this month about the birth of Jesus. We will talk about the first week of Advent, and the angel coming to visit Mary. We are working really hard to learn all of our songs for our show next week.
We will have new Christmas centers this week including a Christmas Village, jingle bells and magnets, and red and green rice in the sensory table.
We will also start making some special surprises for mom and dad this week for Christmas.
