I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is ready for the chilly weather ahead! The weather is showing highs in the 40s this week so please remember to dress your child with a warm coat and hat. Last week we enjoyed some warm days outside taking in all the sights of fall. We also had a special visitor on Thursday, Sargent Todisco, to talk to us a little about being a veteran. We made him poppy flowers as a thank you gift.
This week is our second week in our community unit with the topic “People We Meet”. We will read Jobs, Dot the Firedog, and ABC Drive. Our new vocabulary words will be: doctor, firefighter, work, mail carrier, and police officer.
Our letter this week is Hh. We will practice writing capital and lowercase Hh, we will make a list of Hh words, and we will have Hh show and tell on Friday.
For Jesus time this week we will learn about Samuel and remember to be thankful for our schools. We will also start practicing our Christmas songs for our Christmas program this week.
Math this week will be about the #10 and we will practice directional words while discussing “Which way is shorter?” We will use words such as: closer, distance, and farther. We will also color buildings and people to create our own map.
Our seasonal topic this week will be about crows and scarecrows. We will read Yellowtime, Scarecrow’s Hat, and The Lonely Scarecrow. We will make a crow craft and a scarecrow craft.
