The 4th graders have a busy week ahead! Please take a moment to review what we will be covering over this week. It is important that students bring in a charged chromebook to school each day.

Thursday is Parent Teacher Conferences. I look forward to seeing you all Thursday to discuss your child’s growth so far this year. Please be sure to sign up for a conference time by following the link Mrs. DeGennaro sent out Monday 11-7.

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week in ELA, we will be exploring the Week 6 of the Wonders curriculum. This is the last week of Unit 1. We will be taking our first ELA test on 11-21 and 11-22. The test is reading comprehension with questions about the skills reviewed in this unit. This week we will be reading several texts together focusing on annotating and note taking. We will also be focusing on the skills of summarizing, cause and effect, and author’s perspective. We will be completing Unit 5 of our Sadlier Vocabulary Book. In writing, we will be using our Opinion Choice Boards, to write argumentative based paragraphs.

Math: This week in Math we will continue module 6-7 in IntoMath. We will not be following IntoMath. We will be learning the standard algorithm to solve division problems. We will be using IntoMath for lessons 6.1-6.3 and 7.3-7.4. It is essential that your child knows and is confident in practicing their multiplication facts. Please check the google classroom for additional resources. There will be a quiz on 11-21 and a test on 11-22.

Religion: This week we will continue our unit on Prayer.

Social Studies: This week we continue Chapter 3, A Growing Colony, learning about the early settlers in New York. Directions for the next S.S. project went home last week. We will also be working on this project in school. This project will be due on 11-22.

Science: This week we will begin our next unit of science, The Birth of Rocks. We will be focusing on the question, Can a Volcano Pop Up in Your Backyard?

I am looking forward to a fantastic week with a fabulous group of fourth graders.

Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
