The 4th graders have a busy week ahead! Please take a moment to review what we will be covering over this week. It is important that students bring in a charged chromebook to school each day. Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:
ELA: This week in ELA, we will be exploring the October/November Storyworks. We will be reading and exploring a story called “Fancy Dancer,” by Monique Gray Smith. Throughout the story we will be exploring the skill of plot, and plot development. We will also complete unit 4 in our Vocabulary BookThere will be a spelling test on 11-5 based on words found in our class read-aloud, The Spiderwick Chronicles.
Math: This week in Math we will start module 5 in IntoMath. We will not be following IntoMath. We will be learning the standard algorithm to solve multiplication problems. Please remember to check google classroom for reteach pages, HW, and helpful handouts or videos. Students are encouraged to practice their fact fluency each night. It is vital that students are familiar and comfortable with their multiplication facts. There will be a quiz on Friday 11-4 on 2 digit by 1 digit multiplication.
Religion: This week we will begin our next unit on Prayer.
Social Studies: This week we begin Chapter 3, A Growing Colony, learning about the early settlers in New York.
Science: This week we will finish our first unit in science, exploring the human body. There will be a quiz on Wednesday 11-2. A review sheet was completed last Friday, and a copy can be found on Google Classroom. Please ensure to study the review sheet with your child.
I am looking forward to a fantastic week with a fabulous group of fourth graders.
Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
