Important Information
We have been and will be spending a lot of time working on reading skills. While many of the children love independent reading, and they can talk about the books they are reading, I am finding a disconnect with the students being able to answer written comprehension questions about their reading. As such, we have begun using ReadWorks. This is an online reading program that helps students build their comprehension skills. I have used it in the past, and I have found it to be quite impactful.
Throughout the entire week, I will be giving the students different parts of the Unit 1 ELA test. The test is made up of numerous reading passages and the correlating questions. It will be similar to the “cold reads” we have be doing in ELA.
In class, we are also working on our Seasons of Gratitude file folder project. We are thinking of all the people, places, and things we are grateful for. When all the projects are complete, we will be hanging them in the hallway.
