“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” – Wayne Gretzky

Important Information

As previously mentioned, Jayden and Madison’s moms have volunteered to be our class parents this year.  Two weeks ago, I sent home a notice asking for information and $15 for our class parties. Please make sure the form and money get back to me by Tuesday, October 11th.

Instrument lessons started last week. The schedule for this week’s lessons was sent to the children’s email on Thursday. Please make sure your child checks the schedule. I believe that the schedule changes each week, so please look for the schedule, and make note of the day your child has lessons. You can contact Ms. Philbin or Mr. Stainkamp if you have any questions.

I am happy to say that our missing math workbooks have been delivered to the school, and students will begin using them on Monday. We are still missing some reading/writing workbooks and reading anthologies.   I believe that I previously misspoke when I said that they would have to be picked up at the district. It is my understanding now that the Suffolk County BOCES books are being delivered directly to Trinity. I will be making copies of their missing reading/writing companion pages until the students receive their books. As soon as I get the books, I will distribute them to the children.

Academics

Math: We focusing on learning our multiplication facts, beginning with 2’s and 4’s, followed by 5s and 10s, and then 3’s and 6’s.  Please practice the multiplication facts with your child. We will be having a test some time next week (probably Wednesday, the 19th).

Religion: We are learning about God’s promises kept in Jesus.  Our Prayer video is I Can Only imagine by Mercy Me.

Social Studies: We are in our chapter on Our Environment. This week we will focus on weather, climate, and forces of nature.  The children are also practicing their geography skills using Blooket.

Science: In this lesson, students will learn about how fossil dinosaur tracks reveal how quickly a dinosaur was running. In the activity, Outrunning CeeLo, students figure out if they could have won a race with a dinosaur that was just their size. To determine the winner, students will compare the length of their running steps with the dinosaur’s steps.
