Last week we had fun learning all about the different ways we get to school. We discovered that cars begin with C and had a great time experimenting with different activities using different vehicles.
F is for farm!! This week we are going down to the barnyard to discover farm animals. When children learn about farm animals, they learn to love and care about the creatures in our world. It builds upon their natural curiosity to help them understand that animals also need to be cared for, and that also translates into caring for others as well. We will learn that God, who created all the creatures on the earth, calls us to care for the animals.
We will start our week on the farm with a virtual field trip to an animal farm. We will learn about ducks, sheep, cows, pigs and horses and read many stories about barnyard adventures. Songs this week will include, “Old MacDonald,” and “Bill Grogan’s Goat.” A few of the fun activities we have planned include playing with corn in the sensory bin, graphing our favorite farm animals, churning butter from cow’s cream, creating farm animal tracks in playdough, creating sensory farm animal art and exploring positional words while enjoying “The Billy Goats Gruff” on a story board.
