Important Information

In class, we have finished reading Judy Moody was in a Mood. The students have enjoyed hearing about Judy’s antics. We celebrated our read aloud by presenting our own collages (just like Judy). The Me Collage projects came out beautifully. I’m so proud of the effort the students put into making them!

 

As previously mentioned, Jayden and Madison’s moms have volunteered to be our class parents this year.  Last week, I sent home a notice asking for information and $15 for our class parties. Please make sure the form gets back to me by Tuesday, October 11th.

Instrument lessons are starting this week. The schedule for this week’s lessons was sent to the children’s email on Thursday. Please make sure your child checks the schedule. I believe that the schedule changes each week, so please look for the schedule, and make note of the day your child has lessons. You can contact Ms. Philbin or Mr. Stainkamp if you have any questions.

Also, we are still missing some workbooks and reading anthologies. I have been making copies of the missing math practice book pages for the children that do not have their books yet. As soon as I get the books, I will distribute them to the children. The students who are missing the Wonders’ reading anthology and reading/writing companion (a 3-workbook set) need to get their books from their normal book distributor (I think it is called Suffolk County BOCES). I will be making copies of their missing reading/writing companion pages until they receive their books.

 

Academics

Math: We have finishing our module on multiplication and area. The test will be on Wednesday. Then we will focus on learning our multiplication facts, beginning with twos and fours.

Religion: We are working on how we learn and use God’s words.  We will also explore the 6 chief parts of Christian Doctrine.  Our Prayer video is Known by Tauren Wells.

Social Studies: We are in our chapter on Our Environment. We will focus on land and water. We will be discussing the various regions of the United States. The children are also practicing their geography skill using Blooket.

Science: In this lesson, students will learn how we can infer what the outside of an animal looked like by using clues about their skeleton. In the visual activity, Guess What These Animals Eat, students examine photos of skulls of both familiar animals and dinosaurs to figure out what each animal eats.

ELA: For Unit 1, Weeks 3 and 4 our essential question is “What can traditions teach you about cultures?” The following is a list of everything we will be covering in ELA, including our vocabulary and spelling words.
