Handwriting-Lowercase Letters

Cursive can be challenging but the second graders are working hard! Individual strokes ( undercurve, slant, downcurve, overcurve ) are important to master!

Keys to legibility are size, shape, spacing and slant! Handwriting is important and strengthens our fine motor skills! Neatness counts!

Religion

We will be reading about the many miracles Jesus performed while here on earth

Chapel is Wednesday

We continue to be a daily blessing to others as we give away a heart or cross each day throughout Lent

Important Information and News:

This Tuesday morning (March 29th) we will be going to the Scholastic Book Fair here at Trinity! *If your child would like to purchase a book(s), please be sure to send money to school in a labeled envelope with their name, grade and amount of cash enclosed. Thank you!

Please sign and return all tests. The last math test included many word problems. Word problems can often be challenging but it is encouraged that time is taken to read the sentences not just once, but twice or three times so the problem is understood. Take apart and read and think about each sentence first before solving. We will continue to practice word problems as we begin a new chapter about money and time after Friday’s test.

• Please practice math addition and subtraction facts at home. Please use flash cards or simply ask simple fact questions whenever you have a minute or two to practice. Make it fun!

•Journal Writing Homework: Please encourage as much independence as possible when writing. Reinforce rereading sentences to proofread. Does/Do my sentence(s) make sense? Did I add punctuation and capital letters when necessary? Have I written at least 3 sentences to answer the prompt? Have I reviewed and checked my “checklist?” Correct spelling is not a priority for this activity; getting thoughts down on paper is. Stretch out words when spelling. Second graders are becoming authors and they all have a story to tell!

•*If your son or daughter has a hard time completing homework, please let me know so I can reinforce the concept in school the following day. Thank you!

•Are YOU interested in becoming a MYSTERY READER? If so, please email me so we can set up a date and time for you to “Zoom” in and share a book with our class! We hope everyone will take part in this fun activity and spend some time with us!

• Please remember to send in extra masks for your son/daughter just in case a backup is needed!

If ever you have a question or concern, please email me at [email protected].

God bless our week ahead.
