This week we will be focusing on the following topics in each subject listed below. As a reminder there will be no school on Friday for a Professional Development Day.
ELA- This week we will continue working on editing our writing and learning how to add transitional phrases to strengthen our main ideas. We will also be reading a short story titled, This is the End of Chicago by Lauen Tarshis. This text is a nonfiction article about 2 families’ experiences in the Chicago fire. We are also continuing our work on editing our writing.
Math- This week we will finish chapter 9, Relate Fractions and Decimals. A quiz will be on Monday 3/14, and a test on Tuesday 3/15. Splash Learning is a great tool to help practice new math skills. Please continue to work with your child on fact fluency. As always, the Reteach and HW pages will be available on Google Classroom.
Social Studies- This week we will continue chapter 4, The Revolutionary War in New York State. We will be learning about the Declaration of Independence, as well as the 13 original colonies.
Science- We will be using Mystery Doug to explore various topics related to the human body.
Religion- This week in religion we will be working on making our Lenten Promise. I have challenged the class to do at least one act of kindness every day during lent. Each day students will be challenged to add one link to the class kindness chain.
Please always reach out if you have any questions or concerns. The best way to reach me is through talking points, and I am looking forward to an amazing week learning with an amazing class.
