Welcome back to a new week! This is a big week in each of the social studies classes, as each grade has a topic/unit test this week. The study guides will be linked below in each class update.

6th Religion

Sixth grade is fully into the Era of the Kings/the Split Kingdom. We will be learning about the kings of both Judah and Israel, and how their actions affected their people. We will study the prophet Elijah this week, who worked tirelessly to bring the people of Israel back to God, as well as the challenges he faced in his ministry. The students will be finishing the last two lessons of the unit this week, and they will have a test on Unit 3 next Friday, February 18th.

6th Social Studies

As I mentioned last week, the students have been reviewing for their test on Topic 5: Early Civilizations of China. Their test will be on Wednesday, February 9th, and you may view the study guide here. On Thursday, they will begin their projects on ancient African Kings.

7th Social Studies

Much like sixth grade, the students are in the process of reviewing for their test on Topic 4: A Constitution for the United States. Their test will be on Wednesday, February 9th, and you may view the study guide here. On Thursday, the students will begin their research projects on African American government leaders.

8th Social Studies

This week the students will be reviewing for their test on Topic 11: The Progressive Era. Their test will be on Friday, February 11, and you may view the study guide here. Next week, they will work on researching prominent figures of the Harlem Renaissance.

8th Religion

This week the eighth grade is beginning the Era of the Kings with our lessons on Samuel anointing Saul as Israel’s first king, and then David as his successor. We will be contrasting these two men and learning about the importance of a repentant heart.
