Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s Notes
Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week.
Spelling- The new words for this week are: so, go, home, hole, no, rope, joke, bone, stove, poke. Since there are 10 (long o) spelling words, I will only be including 2 of the “R” book words (around and because) on the spelling test. They are on the spelling list. They need to be able to read all of the “R” book words fluently for the vocabulary portion of the reading test. The children will write their spelling words 3x each and write their 4 sentences by Thursday. Encourage your child to use at least 5 words in each sentence, and not to start every sentence with the word “I”. Spelling test will be on Friday.
Phonics- long o and u
Language Arts- questions; suffixes; narrative writing
Reading: We have started our 4th reading book. The story this week is “Let’s go to the Moon”! Please have your child read it at home before the test. We have completed the first of two reading workbooks, which will be sent home. The “R” book words are: around, bring, show, because, carry, think, before, and light. The reading test will be given on Friday.
Math- We have started chapter 6- count and model numbers
Social Studies- Continents and oceans
1AA News
We are going to have a Valentine card exchange on February 14th, as we did for Christmas cards. A class list will be sent home.
