Welcome back to a new week! I hope you are all well, and that you enjoyed our snow day last week. While snow days are great fun, we have lots of work to make up this week.

6th Religion

In religion this week, we are studying Samuel, Israel’s last judge, and Saul, Israel’s first king. We will especially focus on learning how we can use our own gifts and talents to serve God and others. The students will make up their memory quiz on Monday.

6th Social Studies

We are continuing our Martin Luther King Jr. unit this week with a virtual museum visit to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN, and by examining artifacts from the collection of the Smithsonian Museum. To conclude our unit, the students will work on group projects in which the they will create their own virtual museum exhibit on Martin Luther King Jr. They will present on Friday.

7th Social Studies

Seventh grade is also doing a virtual museum visit to the National Civil Rights Museum and the Smithsonian. Their research project will go into the legacy of nonviolent protests in American, and how Dr. King’s ideas have changed our nation. They will present on Friday.

8th Social Studies

In addition to our virtual museum visits, the eighth grade will be researching civil rights leaders of the Progressive Era, and comparing and contrasting their ideas and strategies to Dr. King’s ideas for nonviolent direct action. They will present on Friday.

8th Religion

This week we are starting the Book of Judges. We will focus on Deborah and Gideon. The overarching theme of both lessons is trusting in God’s unusual plans. They will make up their memory quiz on Monday.
