“It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”
PreK Classes are busy creating their Nativity Collage of Baby Jesus’ Birthday.
Kindergarten finished a unit on Color Theory and will be learning how to draw The Nativity (Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus) using their basic shapes.
First Grade is creating a decorative wreath made from tissue squares, tissue crumble berries and baby pine cones.
Our Second Graders spent the last two weeks using leaf shaped sponges to create beautiful poinsettia paintings.
Third Grade finished weaving their fall colored mats and enjoyed a lesson on drawing “The Annunciation.” (When the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary she would be the mother of Our Savior!)
Fourth Graders will learn about the Cubist Style and use cool and warm colors to create an Angel Drawing in the same fashion.
Fifth Graders have enjoyed creating Pie Tin Angel Sculptures out of aluminum cake tins. They created a beautiful design of little holes using an ordinary metal nail. The sculptures will illuminate when a battery operated candle is placed in the center of the Angel Sculpture. This craft was especially popular in Colonial America. ***Some students will be entering their poster designs in the 39th Annual National Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest! This contest is for Fifth Grade participants only, who will initially compete at our state level and then go on to the National competition for a chance to win a trip to Washington D.C.! The deadline for entries to Mrs. Kerwin is January 27, 2022. Good Luck to All!
Sixth Grade learned about the history of the traditional Poinsettia flower. They are busy using oil pastels to create their very own Poinsettia Drawings.
Seventh Graders are in the middle of designing a Logo for a company or store front. Some students have decided to incorporate the theme of Christmas into their original Logo designs.
Eighth Grade is finishing up their Inspirational Christmas Word Drawings using their sketches of illuminated Christmas lights to surround and enhance their Christmas-themed word.
Art Elective students are finishing up their Crayon Resist Warm/Cool colored abstract drawings of their hands.
Keep Creating and Christmas Blessings to All!
