The fourth graders survived their first Math test!  The faculty and administration at Trinity are still working on how to best score and record the students grades from last week’s assessment.  Your patience is greatly appreciated!

I am reading the class The Hundred Dresses, by Eleanor Estes.  Although it was written 70 years ago, it tells about the bullying of a young girl that students can certainly relate to today.  This week, we will be writing essays comparing the fiction book to a non-fiction article for kids on bullying.

Week of: October 7-11

Spelling: eyes, icicle, tight, climb, umpire, highway, idea, flight, cycle, fright, iron, slight, tiny, higher, shy, hire, buy, might, reply, title

Vocabulary: analyze, baggage, landslide, previous

Writing Journal Assignment:  Describe the perfect bedroom.  Include information about where it would be, what it would look like, and what kinds of items would be in it.  One paragraph of 8-10 sentences.

Math: Two-step and multi-step word problems

Science: Digestive and nervous systems

Social Studies: Test on Chapter 1

Reading: Ongoing free reading in class, reading notebook, conferencing

Language Arts: Run-on sentences and sentence fragments

Religion: daily devotions

Tests:

  • Thursday – Memory Quiz;  Social Studies, Chapter 1
  • Friday – Spelling Test, Unit 4

Important News:

  • Math extra help will be given Wednesday morning at 7:45 in our classroom.
  • Friday, October 11th is the last day for uniform shorts.
  • All students should have a Math binder in school at this time.
  • There is no school on Monday, October 14th in observance of Columbus Day.  Enjoy the long weekend!
