Hello, everyone. We have hit not only the middle of March, but also one year since the start of the pandemic shutdown. Thanks be to God, we are in a much better place now, and I trust that He will continue to help us move into the post-pandemic phase. Here are the updates for this week at school.

6th Religion

This week we will be studying Elijah and his prophecies to the people of Israel about how they should turn away from idols and return to God. The memory verse for this week is Romans 5:10. The quiz will be on Thursday.

6th Social Studies

In Social studies this week, we will be wrapping up our study of Ancient Greece/ We will finish learning about the impact of Alexander the Great’s empire, as well as major achievements from ancient Greece. On Thursday, the students will begin reviewing for their test on chapter 9, which will be on Tuesday, March 23rd. You may view the study guide here.

7th Social Studies

This week in social studies, we will be doing a deep dive into civics and government structure, which will culminate in a “game show” on Friday. The students will be answering questions similar to the citizenship test administered during the naturalization process. This unit will help the students gain further understanding of how our government works, and how we are part of the process.

8th Social Studies

On Tuesday, the students will take their test on chapter 21, World War I. As I told the students, they need to start preparing for being high school students in the near future, so they need to become more acclimated to independent studying. They are given a study guide with all the topics for the test, and they need to use their notes and homework to put together their study notes. You may view the study guide here. The next big topic of study is a personal favorite: The Roaring Twenties! Just like us in the present day, they were emerging from a devastating pandemic, experiencing major social changes, and a cultural boom all at once.

8th Religion

In religion this week, we will be studying the life and work of the prophet Elijah. We will especially focus on how God provided for Elijah during a time of great physical and mental anguish- a reminder that is still very important for us today. The memory verse for this week is Isaiah 41:10. The quiz will be on Friday.
