Hello Parents! I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break, especially with all the snow. I’m excited to have the kids back in school and we have a fun week ahead of us! Please remember to complete the daily attestations each morning prior to coming to school.
This week we will continue our letters and numbers. We will be learning the letter Uu and we will start reviewing the numbers 1-20. We are continuing our theme for the month of February – Imagine it, Make it. Our third unit will focus on “Things we Build.” The big idea is that I can use different materials to make new things. The vocabulary words we will learn this week are: construct, materials, invention and plan. We will be reading the books “The Three Little Pigs,” “White Rabbit’s Color Book,” and “Buildings.” The math concepts for this week are taller, wider and rotate.
We talked about Presidents and Black History Month before we went on break. Monday is George Washington’s birthday so we will continue to talk about Presidents. We will also learn about Louis Armstrong as we continue talking about Black History Month. February is also National Children’s Dental Health month so we will talk about the dentist this week. We will read a Scholastic Weekly Reader, titled “Smile” as we talk about good dental health. For Jesus time we will continue to talk about Lent and learn about Jesus feeds 5,000. This week is Abraham’s birthday so the children will get to see our school’s dog and wish him a happy birthday.
