Hello Parents! I hope everyone is continuing to stay warm during this super cold Winter! Please continue to complete the daily attestations every morning before coming to school.
We are continuing with theme 5 “Imagine It, Make It” and starting the second unit called “Tools We Use”. BIG Idea: I can use tools to create and build. Knowledge Focus: Children learn how imagination and creativity shape our world. Social-Emotional focus: Initiative. The theme vocabulary words include: bridge, ramp, structure and tools. Math vocabulary words include: next, pattern and repeats.
We will be learning the letter Rr and #20. We will be reading the books “Science Tools”, “Harold and the Purple Crayon”, “Alphabet Under Construction” and “The Shape of Things”. We will read the Abraham Lincoln Scholastic weekly reader book in preparation for the upcoming holiday, President’s Day.
For Jesus time, we will read the story “Jesus stops the storm” and will discuss Ash Wednesday which is during our Winter break. We will also continue to sing our new song titled “Jesus is my Valentine” which is sung to the tune of Jesus Loves Me.
As a class craft, the children will be coloring the letter R using the colors of the Rainbow for their ABC book. We will also be completing our Valentine’s Day cards to their families as well as creating Valentine’s Day cards for children at the St. Jude hospital.
We will have our very first two Special Guests this upcoming Friday. One parent will be joining us via zoom to read to the class their favorite Valentine’s Day book and another parent will be discussing President’s Day.
For President’s Day, we will look at money and coins to show the students the different Presidents’ on them.
