Hello Parents, I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the long weekend. Monday, January 18th is Martin Luther King Day and there is no school. Please remember to complete the daily attestations each morning prior to coming to school.
This week we will be learning the letter Qq and the number 17. Continuing with our theme for the month of January – Awesome Animals, we will start unit 3, which is called “Creepy, Crawly Insects.” This week will be all about bugs! The vocabulary words for the week include: bug, crawl, insect, stinger, stings, and wings. For math, we will learn about columns and rows. We will be reading the books “Bugs Bugs Bugs”, “Over in the Meadow”, and “What Do Insects Do?” We will take a virtual field trip to a Toronto rooftop beehive home, we will make bird feeders and we will play Insect BINGO.
Our Scholastic Weekly reader will review what we learned about Martin Luther King last week and continue to reinforce that we are all different and that is something to celebrate. For Jesus time we will be talking about little boy Jesus at the Temple.
