READING- We will continue with letter recognition and left to right progression. We will also begin to identify things in our world that begin with letters a-k, discuss letters in specific words, learn that words are part of speech and can written in the form of sentences, read our first high frequency word “the” and read our first mini book, “The House.”

You can help at home by:

Reading the mini book at home, emphasizing the word “the.”

As you read with your child have him/her point to the word “the” when they see it.

MATH- On Thursday, 9/26 , the class will have its first Math test on chapter 1. All of the pages we have completed in school will be sent home for you to use in reviewing this chapter with your child.

RELIGION- Our Bible story for this week is Noah’s Ark.

SCIENCE- We have completed our study of our five senses, and will begin to explore living and non-living things. You can help at home by naming different things inside and outside your home and have your child determine if they are living or non-living things.

SOCIAL STUDIES- See notes from last week. In addition we will discuss the life of Johnny Appleseed and how apples grow.

HANDWRITING- See notes from last week.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Please be sure to return your completed e-mail, information, and party  forms along with your $5.00 by Wednesday, 9/25.

We have had a longer lunch period, but the amount of food that is being sent in some of the student’s lunch boxes is too much, especially the desserts. Think healthy!

Be sure your child is dressed appropriately. Please refer to the uniform check list.

The secret of my success? It is simple. It is found in the Bible. “In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.”
