As February is considered the Love month let us reflect on the words of the Lord: God is Love and we are His children. 1 John 3:2.
During Jesus’ time we watched Jesus grow from a toddler into a teenager and then an adult. Scripture tells us that Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man. And with the Lord’s help so will our children. Jesus then shows us how we can become God’s child in Baptism.
We concluded our unit on ice and snow and have begun studying shadows. As the ground hog was waking on February 2 it was fun to learn about this wonderful custom of seeing or not seeing his shadow. In the book, SHADOWS by Carol Otto, we discovered the source of shadows–light. Then we had fun we went on a shadow walk and saw our shadows and everything else too.
We celebrated the Lunar new year with games, songs, and crafts. For snack we had dumplings, rice, tea, and fortune cookies. We read stories about the year of the rat and ERNIE WAN — LION DANCER.
Our healthy living unit began with us jumping on the Food Train and learning about dairy products. We read MILK by Gail Gibbons and ICE CREAM by Mary Reid. More will come in the weeks to follow.
Moms are coming in on Friday to help us make our “Sweetheart Houses” and Dads will come and play Lincoln Logs with us.
Art with Mrs. Kerwin we painted with dots just like the French painter, Seurat, father of pointillism.
We’ve begun intensive work with letters and sounds beginning with “Mm” and “Dd”.
All of our students are ready for a road rally; they really can move those tricycles.
Thank you all for your support of the Pancake Breakfast at Applebees. It was successful fund raiser.
May our Lord rest His hand gently upon you now and always!
