Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week.
Spelling- The new words for this week are: me, be, these, read, feet, tree, keep, eat, mean, sea, about, could, maybe, there. The spelling test will be on Friday. The children will write their 14 spelling words 3x each by Tuesday. They should write 6 sentences by Thursday. The spelling test will be on Friday.
Phonics- long e: ea, ee, e_e; -ink
Language Arts- compound sentences
Writing- Narrative writing: sentences about themselves
Reading: The story this week is The Big Trip. Please have your child read it at home before the test. The focus will be on what the characters say and how they feel in the story, and how the characters are the same and different. The “R” book words are: about, by, car, could, don’t, maybe, sure, there. The reading test will be given on Friday.
Math- This was a short chapter on comparing numbers. The chapter 7 test will be given on Tuesday- practice test on Monday
Social Studies- book 3- Life Long Ago
Religion- Jesus’ miracles

Please return your child’s permission slip and payment for our class trip to see the “Rainbow Fish Musical”.
Next Friday is Valentine’s Day and Red Day. We will celebrate with red snacks and we will have a Valentine card exchange.
After the winter recess (February 17-21), we will be celebrating the 100th day of school! We have special events planned for that day (2/28) and we need some parents to bake a dozen cookies each so that we can munch on 100 cookies with the Kindergarten class. More information about that day will be sent home soon.
