Jesus’ Time has been focusing on Jesus growing and development following the Christmas birth.  His parents following the Jewish law brought Jesus to the Temple for his presentation and thus meeting up with Anna and Simeon who identify him to all present that he is the Messiah, the Promised One.  And so we too are growing in the Lord.

In science our unit on Ice is progressing.  We have discovered the properties of ice; where we see ice; and what ice is used for.  In using the scientific method we were able to why and how ice expands.  In addition our weekly reader presented us with a view of a city in China made totally of ice.

Our awesome animal of the week is the great horned owl.  Using Scholastic’s FIRST BOOK OF NIGHT CREATURES and OWLS by Gail Gibbons we spent time discovering the lives of owls.  We then read OWL MOON to discover the beauty of these fascinating creatures.  Using paper and glue we also made our own owls.

On January 15, we celebrated the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Through songs, art, Weekly Readers, we learned  about his message to the world:  Let’s be friends. Love One Another – John 13:34.  We listened to the book, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARTIN LUTHER KING by Jean Marzollo.

Our story time has included DREAM SNOW by Eric Carle and IT’S SNOWING by Gail Gibbons.

“Keep Rollin” is the phrase in the MPR as we ride our tricycles.

Art with Mrs. Kerwin sees the children finishing their snowy day paintings.

And in computer we all built our own snowmen minus the snow.
