I hope everyone enjoyed learning all about the colors!  I enjoyed getting to know your children better while exploring many colorful activities over the past few weeks.

This week we begin getting ready for Thanksgiving.  We will create Thanksgiving placemats and math pattern turkey headbands to use later at our Thanksgiving feast.  We will also draw and record responses to a “I am Thankful: The Five Senses” booklet during writer’s workshop.  We will dance and sing to “If You’re Thankful” and “Five Fat Turkeys”.

We are talking about the changes the season of fall brings and all the colorful leaves that we see.  We will read many books this week about the season of fall and the changes it brings- particularly to the leaves on the trees.  Please take your child on a Fall walk and scavenger hunt this week.  Please bring to class one leaf, one twig and one small rock of your child’s choosing.  These fall items will be stored in our sensory table for open ended exploration.  We will sort and graph the leaves.  We will also create leaf rubbings and nature collages to take home.  We will sing songs about fall including, “ The Seasons” and “Leaves are Falling”.

Before a child can write properly, they need to be able to hold the pencil correctly and draw prewriting lines.  We will formally introduce each child to the correct pencil grasp and continue working on it through out this year.

Monday and Tuesday, we will get a special visit from Abraham, our resident comfort dog.  Each child will get to pet Abraham and learn about his special ministry.

Tuesday and Wednesday, we will visit the chapel.  Pastor Hopkins will be leading us in prayer.

All Yankee Candle orders should be handed in by Friday, November 8th.  Thank you in advance for supporting our school!
