This week we are discovering all about the color blue.  We will be discussing what it means to feel blue and strategies for feeling happy.  We will read a variety of books including the classics, Blueberries for Sal by Robert McClosky and The Napping House by Audrey Wood.  Art will include fingerprint blueberry baskets and painted paper plate blue birds.  Thursday and Friday are our blue color days.  Please wear blue and bring a blue item from home for show and tell.  Thursday the kids will create blueberry parfaits for their special snack.  Friday the children will bake and enjoy blueberry muffins.

We will also talk about farm animals and learn the song, “Old Macdonald”.  We have a field trip planned for Wednesday at White Post Farm in Melville where we will get to see real life farm animals, ride a hayride and pick pumpkins.  Please meet up at the parking lot entrance at 9:30am.  Full day Wednesday students may return to class for the remainder of the school day after the trip.

This Tuesday, October 8th is parent night.  Parent night begins at 7 pm in the chapel.  Afterwards, parents will go to their child’s classroom for a brief summary of what to expect this year.  Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria after the classroom visits.
