Math 6

We are continuing with our next unit on finding the Greatest Common Factors and Least Common Multiples.  We have also applied this skill to real life application problems.  This is a stepping stone for the following unit on Fractions.  This week the students will be participating in a GCF/LCM lab that will help to reinforce what we learned last week.  There will be a quiz on finding GCF, LCM, and application problems on Wednesday, 10/9.  Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Math 7

We have been working on our first unit Integers and Rational Numbers. Thus far, we reviewed how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative rational number.  This involves decimals and fractions.  Please make sure that your child has memorized their rational number rules.  There will be a quiz on Module 3, which covers all operations for rational numbers on Tuesday, 10/8.  Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Pre-Algebra

We have started our unit on Scientific Notation.  We have explored the purpose of scientific notation and how to write numbers using it, as well as how to convert numbers back to their standard form.  There will be a quiz on the above topics on Tuesday, 10/8.  For the remainder of the week we will be comparing and ordering numbers in scientific notation, as well as how to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers written in scientific notation.

This week we are starting chapter 5.  We will explore rate of change, slopes of different lines, and how to calculate slope.  Students will also learn different methods to graph a line such as, using a table, using x and y intercepts, slope intercept form and point slope form. There are not any tests or quizzes this week.  Extra help is by appointment.
