Math 6

We are beginning our next unit on finding the Greatest Common Factors and Least Common Multiples.  We will then apply this skill to real life application problems.  This is a stepping stone for the following unit on Fractions.  There are no tests or quizzes this week.

Math 7

We have been working on our first unit Integers and Rational Numbers. Thus far, we reviewed how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative numbers.  Please make sure that your child has memorized these rules.  The students have also been working on their Integer Timeline projects.  These projects are due on 10/1.  They are coming out great.  This week our focus will be on reviewing how to apply the rules that we learned for integers to rational numbers involving fractions and decimals.  There are not any tests or quizzes this week.

Pre-Algebra

This week we are finishing up our study of exponent rules.  Students are working on their exponent posters.  Following the completion of this, we will take these skills and apply them to scientific notation.  We will be exploring the purpose of scientific notation and how to write numbers using it, as well as how to convert numbers back to their standard form.  We will be having a quiz either Thursday, 10/3 or Friday, 10/4, depending on how the week goes.

Algebra

This week we are finishing Chapter 3, which covers Inequalities.  Students will learn how to solve and graph one step, two step, multi-step and compound inequalities.  We will also be exploring how to solve absolute value equations and inequalities.  We will be reviewing this chapter on Thursday and Friday.  The unit test will be the beginning of next week.  We will have a quiz on Compound Inequalities and Absolute value equations/inequalities on Wednesday, 10/2.
